Lovely to meet you!

I’m Mattea (muh tay uh). I’ve been holding a camera for a long time, but professionally for a bit over a decade :)

My work often centers on authenticity and human connection, often capturing raw, unposed moments that feel natural. My goal is to make it really feel like you’re a part of the moment unfolding.

My work blends an editorial eye with a documentary heart. I’m not here to overly pose or direct every second - I’m here to create space for real connection, and then capture it with intention. Whether it’s the subtle glance before you walk down the aisle, or the way your people light up around you, I’m paying attention to all of it.

I was adopted from Korea and raised in Colorado, so much of my worldview is shaped by my own search for belonging. My experience of feeling like the ‘odd one out’ trained my eye to see the people and moments the world often misses.

Over the past decade, I’ve had the good fortune of photographing hundreds of people, places, and brands across the globe, and I plan to keep doing so for, well, forever.

I’m a firm believer that every photograph should have one thing - the humanity of the moment.

Thanks for being here :) I’d love to hear from you!

Here’s the thing...

love can be found anywhere.

but you have to be looking for it.

it’s in the way your friends greet you.

it’s in airport hello and good-byes.

it’s seeing some horses graze on grass as you drive by.

it’s finding joy in saying hello to your favorite barista and going on your morning walk.

it’s the rush you get when you try something new and surprise yourself with courage.

it’s being happy for your friends’ wins - big and small.

it’s celebrating your birthday, because how lucky are we to age - wrinkles and all.

it’s commitment to choose each other each day, forever.

I know it sounds like romanticizing everything.

…but I mean yeah, isn’t that what it’s about?

each year goes by faster and faster.

and who’s to say what will happen next?

the gift of time is often overlooked.

and so that’s why when I photograph weddings, I look at it through the lens of preservation.

because these are the moments we can’t get back, but ones we will always remember.

you just have to always be in search of humanity.
