Hey there,

I’m Mattea—a photographer who’s always been drawn to the honest, in-between moments. The ones that unfold quietly but leave the deepest mark.

My work blends an editorial eye with a documentary heart. I’m not here to overly pose or direct every second—I’m here to create space for real connection, and then capture it with intention. Whether it’s the subtle glance before you walk down the aisle, or the way your people light up around you, I’m paying attention to all of it.

Every wedding I photograph is approached with fresh eyes and deep care. I shoot a mix of digital, 35mm film, and Polaroids to bring a layered, tactile feel to your gallery. It’s not about a formula—it’s about creating something that actually feels like you.

I was adopted from Korea and grew up in Colorado. I then went on to pursue a BS in Entrepreneurship in STL. Right after that, I headed up to Milwaukee/Chicago, and then last year moved to LA because I fell in love with the year round sunshine and the work that comes with it. Now I’m traveling constantly and following where my camera leads me - often all over the world.

I started my career shooting portraits and fine art, and that eye for nuance still guides my approach today. I split my time between commercial and lifestyle work, collaborating with brands and couples who care about detail and depth. I also co-run a creative agency with my brother, where we produce campaigns rooted in visual storytelling that actually feels like something.

I’m a firm believer that every photograph should have one thing - the humanity of the moment.

Here’s the thing...

love can be found anywhere.

but you have to be looking for it.

it’s in the way your friends greet you.

it’s in airport hello and good-byes.

it’s seeing some horses graze on grass as you drive by.

it’s finding joy in saying hello to your favorite barista and going on your morning walk.

it’s the rush you get when you try something new and surprise yourself with courage.

it’s being happy for your friends’ wins - big and small.

it’s celebrating your birthday, because how lucky are we to age - wrinkles and all.

it’s commitment to choose each other each day, forever.

I know it sounds like romanticizing everything.

…but I mean yeah, isn’t that what it’s about?

each year goes by faster and faster.

and who’s to say what will happen next?

the gift of time is often overlooked.

and so that’s why when I photograph weddings, I look at it through the lens of preservation.

because these are the moments we can’t get back, but ones we will always remember.

you just have to always be in search of humanity.
